September 22, 2015, designated as Falls Prevention Awareness Day, was a great day at the Massachusetts statehouse, where the very critical topic of Fall Prevention was brought into the limelight. Always at the forefront of initiatives to better the health and wellness of our residents, our facility eagerly participated in the first annual Fall Free Day Contest by making a poster to portray Fall Safety and Awareness. All Synergy Health Centers created posters which were entered into a state contest and the winning poster, designed by our sister facility, Brockton Health Center, was proudly displayed at the statehouse.
The posters were crafted with wisdom, humor, and great tips for how to prevent falls and each facility did their best work, letting their creativity shine through. Fall Awareness Day at the Statehouse, spearheaded by Mass Senior Care, was a well-attended, important event. A wealth of information was presented on fall prevention and the impact of falls on our state and country. Helen Magliozzi, co-chair of Senior Mass Care, took the podium and lauded Synergy Health Centers’ facilities-which included New England Health Center-for their participation, stressing that our inter-facility Fall Prevention contests are an example of the fun and innovative ways we are working to reduce falls and keep our residents safe.
Along with the poster competition, all Synergy Health Center facilities, including New England, held an inter-facility to see who could keep their residents from falling all day on September 22nd and then who could stay fall-free the longest. Our facility was able to keep all our residents from falling that day and also longer than any of our sister facilities-winning us a pizza party and a Tai-Chi class. Come take a look at our Fall Prevention poster, displayed prominently in our lobby!
